This
heavy, well balanced sauté pan was previously used in a commercial kitchen. The hammered finish has been scoured and only the faint end lettering in the oval “VERBEELEN ANTWERPEN” hallmark remain visible. The bottom of the pan is also stamped with “79 072”, which quite possibly represents in-service year and inventory number
.
Scratches, dings, bumps, and scuffs, consistent with restaurant use, are present. The handle is cast iron and the rivets are tight. The many utensil scrapes and taps on the inside bottom of the pan are thoroughly coated with new tin that is thick, shiny, and safe for use
.
Henri Verbeelen opened his restaurant and hotel supply company in Antwerp, Belgium in 1947. Today, Verbeelen is a globally recognized supplier of quality hotel and restaurant kitchen, table, and buffet ware. Many vintage Verbeelen copper pans are marked “Made in France”
and they were quite likely manufactured by Mauviel
