    5.5" polished Petrified Wood slice from Madagascar.
    This slab is cut from the log of a petrified tree.
    The original cells of wood have been naturally replaced by Silica (Quartz).  The outside ring shows the original fossilized rough bark of the wood.  Both sides are polished to a smooth finish to show off the fantastic colors and growth patterns of this fossilized specimen which is over 50 million years old.  There is some light rough pitting to the polished sides in areas.  Piece weighs over 3/4 lb.
