NORTHWOOD "GOOD LUCK" AMETHYST
CARNIVAL GLASS BOWL
Available for purchase is an antique carnival glass bowl made by the Northwood Glass Company in Wheeling, West Virginia.  The pattern is called "Good Luck", a popular design first made by Northwood circa 1912.  The pattern features a horseshoe with the words "GOOD LUCK" surrounded by flowers, berries, and sheaves of wheat.  This particular bowl has a ruffled edge and the base glass is a deep amethyst color with nice iridescence.  The reverse side has a rib pattern and also has impressive iridescence.  This collectible bowl measures about 8 3/4" in diameter and 2 1/2" tall.  The base is unmarked, which is expected for this pattern.
This pattern is pictured on page 127 in the book, "
Standard Encyclopedia of Carnival Glass - 8th Edition
" by Bill Edwards and Mike Carwile.  The amethyst bowl is listed with a 2002 book value of 0.  David Doty's carnival glass web site lists 16 sales of amethyst bowls during the past two years with an average price of approximately 8.  I purchased this bowl at a recent estate sale.  It's guaranteed to be an antique Northwood piece and not a modern reproduction.  Please

Condition of this Northwood Good Luck bowl is EXCELLENT with no chips, cracks, or fleabites.  The iridescence is very nice on both sides.  There is a factory original straw mark in the center portion of the design.  Overall, this collectible bowl looks fantastic and displays beautifully.  It would make a fine addition to any collection.  Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself.  I'm confident you'll be very pleased with this purchase.
