This is a beautiful work of art!
Lithophane means "Vision in Stone" and was first invented in France in 1827. This
night light
was made by
The Porcelain Garden
and is
known as "School Days"
by H. Holden.
It is an
unpainted picture
of
a saddled bucking horse in an arena
. This appears to be a Rodeo horse who has thrown its rider.
(N188) It is on a
flat
,
porcelain panel
approximately 3.5-inches wide by 4.5-inches tall. It is etched on the front side so that when light shines through you see a
3-dimensional image
. When the light is off, you only see a piece of white(serpia), etched porcelain.
This night light comes with an electrical plug that holds the panel in place with two plastic screws. The plug can be mounted on the panel on either the top or the bottom, depending on the outlet that will be used. A 110-volt, 5-watt nightlight bulb and assembly instructions are included with each boxed nightlight.
Because these night lights are made of the best porcelain,
they are very fragile
. Each night light is inspected and tested before we ship it. The night lights are then packed in a larger box and surrounded with protective padding such as bubble wrap, styrofoam peanuts or other packing material.
This is the last one of these night lights that we have.
