Marie Osmond 2002 Baby Tinker Bell 12" Porcelain Doll #1748; Signed By Original Tinker Bell Model, Margaret Kerry. Condition is Used/Excellent.
Up for auction is Marie Osmond's "Baby Tinker Bell". One of the most beloved Disney characters of all time, Tinker Bell, the little sprite from the 1953 Disney animation classic Peter Pan.
This particular doll was hand signed by Margaret Kerry at a signing event. Kerry auditioned to be Tinker Bell during the planning stages of the film, pretending to be a 9 year old boy making breakfast, peering into a refrigerator, and dropping eggs. The audition, supervised by Disney animator Marc Davis, required her to pantomime the motions that would eventually be animated as Tinker Bell. She won the audition and spent the next 6 months at the Disney studios on a mostly empty sound stage pantomiming on film the role with the aide of studio props. After seeing the finished product "Peter Pan" when it debuted in 1953, she went on with her life, not realizing the impact her alter-ego would have on her audience for decades to come.
Included with this item is a certificate of authentication (picture 3) of Margaret Kerry's signature (picture 2). Also included is a copy of an news article (picture 4) telling Kerry's story, that was handed out at the signing event. I believe the signature on the article is a facsimile, not an autograph. This article copy has been folded, but is in good condition.
