Petrified Palm Wood Polished Faces 1.2 lbs Aquarium Decorative Stone Display
This piece was collected in the Mojave Desert near the City of Boron, CA and north of dry Lake Rosamond, CA. This deposit is now a desert playa lake, but in the geologic past was  an extensive wetland with palm trees and other vegetation. The area had been covered by a volcanic eruption, and this rapid burying led to petrification with various minerals and chalcedony.  Many stems, root balls, and pieces of the petrified leaf litter can be found, and these look especially nice when a face is ground down and polished along the natural lines and along the natural curvature.
This piece has lots of nooks and crannies, would make a great aquarium decorative stone. Provides hiding and forage for Otos, Gobies, Shrimp, Plecos, etc.
