Received this email from S&S Woodcarvers:
    Hello friend.
We don't make this exquisite solid wood horse anymore. It's a family heirloom! It will last for generations.
By the way this particular design is called Diana Ross because back then the famous singer ordered one just like it but with some variation in color.
The poles are baked enamel solid brass that will not tarnish.
This exceptional work of art sold for ,400 back in the 80's
My father in law Sy Vaks, was the genius behind this. And as I said they are not produced any more.
I would not personally sell them for less than (grab your armchair) ,000. The reason is they are limited in number, the workmanship is superb, Made In USA, the antique carousels of lower quality workmanship sell for at least ,000 and of course rare ones sell for five figures and above.
By the way my father in law; Sy was encouraged by the late Bob Hope to manufacture these horses after he made a couple of them for his collection. Bob Hope had an extensive antique carousel horse collection and he was missing two that he could not find and he commissioned Sy to replicate them hand made. The rest is history.
You may use my quotes if you like, no problem.
Mike don't get me wrong, if you need the money sell it for less.
I have a vintage watch collection that I have been selling for sometime on ebay so I understand that for higher value items I have wait a lot longer for the right person to show up. I have noticed that the quality of the photos that I use matters a lot and I change the photos after a while. I've tried layaway selling my watches successful as well.
    Best of luck to you.
    Best regards.
    Shawn
