Vintage MCM Art Deco Ceramic Bird Pheasant Quail Gold Copper Metallic Green

Description

Gorgeous California Pottery style ceramic figurine in the shape of a Pheasant, with a tall, feathery tall, half spread wings, and a beak, eyes, and head comb that are glazed black. The rest of the bird is glazed with a marbling of copper and green glazes. The copper glaze is metallic and sparkling with thousands of tiny flecks that shift with the light. The green glaze is light an avocado green, with light crazing that adds a beautiful depth to the color, like little patches of ice frozen over grass. This bird is unsigned, but it does have the markings associated with American art pottery, so it is likely an object from one of the many California pottery houses. This pheasant is in good vintage condition, with a few small chips that are all pictured. I love the color of the glaze and the elegant, swooping shape of the bird's tail, and I think this item would look beautiful displayed with other vintage objects or bird figures.
Measurements: This vintage ceramic pheasant is 11 1/4" tall, 5" long, and 4" wide.
