This museum quality masterpiece has been artistically polished by the hands of the natives using bamboo, sand, ash, and water. It is fully agatized with no carbonization or marcasite left in it.
This West Java petrified wood  tree was created by Mother Nature as the tree was knocked down and covered by layers of ash when a volcano in the Pacific Rim of Fire erupted. Petrified wood is a fossil. It forms when plant material is buried by sediment and protected from decay by oxygen and organisms. Then, groundwater rich in dissolved solids flows through the sediment replacing the original plant material with silica, calcite, pyrite or another inorganic material such as opal until only quartz remains.
